(What's the Story) Morning Glory?


The Distant Whistle started as a dream of two home brewers who wanted made some pretty good beer, considering they didn't have any experience in the industry. After a few dozen batches, it was time to make the dream a reality. After countless hours of paperwork, waiting, test batches, and planning, the taproom opened on August 26, 2016. A lot has changed over the years. We've gotten better at brewing, we've learned how to make wine and hard cider. We survived COVID through the help of our wonderful customers, and we have big plans for the future! One thing that won't be changing any time soon is our commitment to making delicious beverages for all our friends!

Plan Your Visit! (Things To Know...)


  • We don't (currently) serve food, so feel free to order in food from any of our fine neighbor restaurants!
  • We serve craft beer, hard cider, wine, seltzer, and even some non-alcoholic options including hop water and BrewDog Alcohol-Free brews!
  • We are happy participants in Vicksburg's Social District, which includes all of downtown, including shopping and Oswalt Park!
  • We are pet friendly OUTSIDE on the positive patio. Feel free to bring your furry friends, but please keep them outside and secure!

The best part about making beer is knowing the balance between art and science to make sure you get what you want. The art comes from knowing the flavors of your ingredients and coming up with ideas for new brews. The science comes from understanding all the processes for the fermentation to work.
